30 ways to practice self care right now

Self-care is the practice of caring for you body without medical personnel. No doctors, no nurses; just you.
This means giving your body what it needs without anyone else’s input. This puts all the power on us to heal our bodies in the way we see fit. As a registered nurse, I see immense benefit in self-care however, many women struggle with finding the time and/or valuing themselves enough to participate. Ladies, you don’t need to ‘earn’ this time. You deserve to take care of yourself because you are a living, breathing creature.
Here is a list of 30 things that you can do for yourself right now. Pick something below, turn off your phone and enjoy your “me-tine.”
  1. Read a book. (Recommendations: You are a Badass & Big Magic)
  2. Take a bubble bath.
  3. Write yourself a love letter.
  4. Binge watch your favorite Netflix series, again. (Recommendations: Gossip Girl, Blacklist & Revenge)
  5. Go outside for a walk.
  6. Splurge and buy yourself something nice.
  7. Drink an XL cup of tea.
  8. Take yourself on a date night.
  9. Start journaling or create a vision board.
  10. Bake something yummy.
  11. Have a little spa day at home.
  12. Take a nap.
  13. Cook your favorite meal.

  15. Reach out to a friend you haven’t talked to in a while.
  16. Book a massage.
  17. Put your phone on airplane mode and enjoy a minute of peace and quiet.
  18. Buy yourself a succulent.
  19. Call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while.
  20. Go on Pinterest and find a DIY to create.
  21. Use your favorite essential oil.
  22. Look through bible verses/inspirational quotes.
  23. Have a glass of wine.
  24. Go to the gym. (Barre, anyone?)
  25. Do your makeup and play dress up.
  26. Explore the city.
  27. Plant flowers and watch them grow.
  28. Take yourself out for coffee.
  29. Listen to a podcast.

Personally, some of my favorite self-care activities are reading, watching TV, diffusing essential oils, practicing meditation and utilizing face masks!
